BAA consider special cases
Following the launch of the Home Owner Supporter Scheme (HOSS) in September, BAA Stansted has now given active consideration to a number of special cases that were brought to our attention during the HOSS consultation process.
Today, we launch a Special Cases Scheme (SCS) targeted at those living close to the proposed expanded boundary of the airport, but who are outside the defined boundary of HOSS. To qualify for SCS, applicants must demonstrate that a severe medical condition, such as a chronic or degenerative disease, makes it necessary for them to move at the earliest opportunity, and they find it difficult to sell their home in the time required.
The Special Cases Scheme will assess each case on its own merit. Medical evidence will be required, as will evidence that the owner has not been able to sell their property at an unaffected value.
BAA Stansted will not under any circumstances discuss particular cases that may or may not be under consideration. Most, if not all cases involve private and personal information, the confidentiality of which will be respected by us.
Those who have already been in direct contact with BAA Stansted to discuss their special circumstances, will have received details today of the terms and conditions of the new scheme. Details of the scheme can be found on our website www.baa.com/stanstedhomeowner or by calling the dedicated freephone helpline on 0800 0859918.
Alastair McDermid, Group Director responsible for the new runway project said:
"This third voluntary initiative announced by BAA has been designed to target those who have exceptional medical circumstances that deserve our careful and sympathetic consideration.
It offers help to those who find that property blight in the short term is preventing them from moving when they need to.
We have been in touch with those who have already asked us to consider their circumstances, and I can assure those who wish to apply that they will be treated fairly and in total confidence."
